Describe your career, your platform, or what makes you you?

I am an accomplished Financial professional and business owner with over 15 years of experience in financial strategy consulting. I am proud to have honed in my expertise by delivering significant financial improvements to the bottom line of Fortune 500 companies and renowned global brands across multiple industries. My passion is to work with successful leaders and business owners who are serious about optimizing wealth and are looking to take control of their money, minimize tax exposure and are motivated to seek the answers that the financial services industry is holding under lock and key.

I created the Wealth Freedom Formula as a personalized financial consulting program that elevates the role of a financial partner to a level that historically has only been accessible to the very few. The strategic consulting approach we employ at the Empowered Financial Planner is focused on bringing our client’s financial and strategic partners to the table and ensuring that no stone is left unturned when it comes to money and wealth, legacy planning and optimization.

I am proud to serve as Atlanta UPWARD Chapter Leader and am excited to add value by the experiences I gained in my prior roles including serving on the Board of Advisors for the Women’s Initiative Networks at Ernst & Young, Booz & Company, and Deloitte. I am grateful to also add value and serve as a strategic advisor to several business-oriented groups both in the Atlanta area and Nationwide.

Do you have any habits or disciplines that you’ve developed that helps keep you motivated?

Maintaining a daily routine has been very important to my progress. Additionally, I strive to always find the silver lining in every situation as I have found it to be very powerful in attracting positive outcomes. And thirdly, giving myself permission to know when it is time to take a break and recharge.

What are you most proud of in your personal life and in your career?

In my personal life, I am most proud of my children and the freedom I have gained as a business owner to enjoy them and our family life, adventures and travel experiences. From a career standpoint, I am most grateful for all of the experiences that shaped me into the leader I am today. My time in the corporate environment gave me the critical ability to always put myself in my clients’ shoes, and that has made a huge difference in the lives of hundreds of families. I am humbled and blessed by that!

We know from data that no one advances completely on their own. Relationships are often the difference between getting noticed and promoted and getting stuck. How do you identify key individuals with whom you need to build strategic relationships? Has UPWARD been a platform to helping you build these necessary relationships?

Relationships to me are like a two-way street. The easiest way to identify individuals with whom I can build strategic relationships is to assess if the other person embodies the same “two-way street” principle. UPWARD has been an environment where the female executives I interacted with have been genuine, collaborative and definitely understand the two-way street concept! More importantly, the overall thought leadership is always at the highest of standards which is not something that happens in most executive networking environments.

As an UPWARD Member, what experience(s) have been most beneficial for you?

The amazing collaborations and the camaraderie enabled by a phenomenal group of powerful female leaders!

What advice have you received that has helped drive you to where you are today? If you’re comfortable, please share where this advice came from.

“Do not ever forget your self-worth!” One of the best pieces of advice I received early on in my career from a personal mentor and very powerful female executive. It came at a time of self-doubt and it made a huge difference in my success and business trajectory.

What advice (2-3 things) would you share with others who have similar goals or is on a similar path as you?

1) Taking baby steps is better than no steps towards reaching your goal.
2) Never look back, life doesn’t happen to you, it happens for you.
3) Find mentors you like and trust and keep those relationships going.

Do you have a favorite inspirational/motivational quote that you’d like to share?

“That which you focus on will embody your reality.” The moral of the quote is to focus on what matters to you and be relentless in not ever putting your goals down.

When you’re not in “work mode”, attending calls/meetings, what would we find you doing?

Reading or having deep, meaningful conversations with my family. I love to see my children flourishing when they feel empowered by being involved in strategic conversations.
